Durrell’s Photographer of the Year 2016

Since my sister and I visited the Durrell Wildlife Park on the summer of 2015, I read through all the newsletters they send out quite thoroughly. Last summer I noticed that they announced a photo competition and people can people can submit shots to several different categories. Because during our visit I managed to take lots of pictures, I sat down quickly, selected my favourite ones, sent them to the specified email address and then I forgot about this whole thing.

Amióta 2015 nyarán nővéremmel Jerseyre látogattunk, rendszeresen olvasom a Durrell Állatkert által kiküldött hírleveleket. Tavaly nyár végefele arra lettem figyelmes, hogy Durrellék fotóversenyt hirdetnek és több különböző kategóriában is nevezni lehet. Mivel a látogatásunkkor rendeteg képet készítettem, le is ültem gyorsan, kiválogattam a kedvenceimet, elküldtem a kijelölt email címre, majd jól el is felejtettem az egészet.

The Jersey Experience: Durrell Wildlife Park

I was very young when I first came across Gerald Durrell’s name on the book entitled ‘My Family and Other Animals’ I was given to read because I would love it for sure. Well… I loved it indeed. Then a few years ago I also realised, that my sister – Tita – owns almost the complete Gerald Durrell book collection. I read a few and – as a result – I started to share the big love and admiration with her. Since then we were dreaming together about the day we will travel together to Jersey and visit the famous Menagerie Manor.

Gerald Durrell nevével először a Családom és egyéb állatfajták című könyv borítóján találkoztam, amit egész kicsi koromban nyomtak a kezembe, hogy olvassam bátran, mert biztos tetszeni fog. Tényleg tetszett. Néhány éve aztán azzal is szembesültem, hogy a nővéremnél – Titánál – pár kötet kivételével Gerald Durrell összes irománya ott figyel a polcon. Többet is elolvastam közülük, és ennek hatására rám is rámragadt a nagy szerelem. Attól kezdve együtt sóvárogtunk, hogy majd egy szép napon mi is eljutunk a híres Jersey szigetére és meglátogatjuk az állatkertet a kastély körül.
