Sorrento – The Land Where Lemons Grow

The truth is, that we didn’t really know much about Sorrento before our visit. A few years ago I saw some photos of the famous Valley of the Mills, which made this sleepy little tourist paradise become an additional item on my travel bucket list. During our stay, however, we realised that besides the mill ruins Sorrento has many other interesting things to offer. For example, this area is the country’s most famous lemon-centre and produces the tastiest Limoncello.

Az a helyzet, hogy Sorrentoról nem sok mindent tudtunk mielőtt ide látogattunk volna. Még évekkel ezelőtt láttam néhány fotót a híres Malmok Völgyéről, melynek hatására ez az álmos kis turistaparadicsom azonnal bakancslistás lett számomra, de aztán szép lassan kiderült, hogy ez a hely a malomromok mellett sok más érdekességet is rejt. Például azt, hogy ez az ország leghíresebb citromközpontja, és ezen a környéken készül a legfinomabb Limoncello.

The Lost Railway of Sydenham Hill Wood

Despite the fact that the “Tired of London, Tired of Life” book schedules the Sydenham Hill Wood walk for the end of April, we thought that a cold, grey, rainy day in February will be just as good for it. Both Will and Ash know Sydenham Hill Wood very well, because they grew up around this area and as kids they enjoyed exploring the hidden pockets of the forest. Now they wanted to share this experience with us, London-newbies as well.

Annak ellenére, hogy a “Ha unod Londont, unod az életet” című könyv a Sydenham Hill Wood-i sétát ideális esetben április végére ajánlja, mi úgy gondoltuk, hogy egy hideg, szürke, esős februári nap is tökéletesen megteszi. Will és Ash jól ismerik az egész környéket, mivel errefele nőttek fel, és gyerekként sok időt töltöttek az erdő rejtett zugainak a felfedezésével, így aztán úgy döntöttek, hogy megmutatják nekünk, London-újoncoknak is a város eme kevésbé ismert részét. 

Bangkok Trilogy: Part 3 – People, Graffiti and Another Temple

As I already mentioned in my previous blog posts, I am very shy when it comes to taking photos of people without them noticing. People in Bangkok truly inspired me and I felt the urge to try and take some nice portraits, but I was seriously struggling with the task. The secret is simple (in theory): just be very quick. Because I am still a beginner, and I need some time to try and frame my picture properly and make sure the focus is ok as well, sometimes people spotted my activity and I had to say goodbye to my carefully planned natural shot. Most of my subjects were smiling and posing, but some people had the exact opposite reaction, and looked at me with a very grumpy face.

Amint azt már korábban is említettem, eléggé nyuszi vagyok, ha idegenek fotózásáról van szó úgy, hogy azok ne vegyék észre. Ugyanakkor a Bangkokban élő emberek erősen inspiráltak, és állandó késztetés gyötört, hogy megpróbálkozzam a portréfotózással. Persze nem volt könnyű. Elméletileg a dolog pofonegyszerű: nagyon fürgének kell lenni. Mivel én még mindig kezdőnek számítok, szükségem van egy kis időre, hogy a képet megfelelően komponáljam és a fókusz is rendben legyen. Így aztán az alanyaim néha felfigyeltek a gyanús tevékenységemre, én pedig búcsút mondhattam a gondosan megtervezett természetes fotónak. A többség ilyenkor mosolyogni vagy pózolni kezdett, de az is előfordult hogy morcos arcot vágott és egyáltalán nem volt elragadtatva.

Ghost stations of Parkland Walk

It was a gloomy Sunday morning of the Early May bank holiday, and we almost decided to go to Red’s and watch a movie instead, but to be honest, everyone wanted to go out, so we ended up meeting at Finsbury Park station. After a long process of feeling lost, trying to find each other, sending google maps screenshots and street view photos, buying some food and drinks we finally headed towards Finsbury Park to explore Parkland Walk.

Borongós vasárnap reggel volt ezen a májusi hosszú hétvégén, és majdnem úgy döntöttünk hogy inkább Redhez megyünk filmet nézni, de igazából mindenki kikívánkozott, úgyhogy végül a Finsbury Park megállónál találkoztunk. Azon hosszadalmas folyamat végén, melynek során egy ideig elveszve éreztük magunkat, majd egymás keresésére indultunk google maps koorindáták és utcaképek segítségével, végül az étel-ital vásárláson is túlestünk, a Finsbury Park felé indulva nekivágtunk a Parkland Walk felfedezésének.
